snapshots for the world's very first(?) DIAGONAL CHESS single game tournament.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

opponents: andreas bokolis Vs costantinos bokolis
winner: constantinos bokolis

in the photo andreas bokolis (white) just before his glorious defeat.

in diagonal chess soldiers move in diagonal (like bishops in straight chess) and conquer checkers in a straight way (like ex. towers).
a soldier turns into queen if reached within the first four blocks from each opposite corner. (blocks 1-4 and a-d in ex.)
all other forces move in the straight chess way.
king is placed in the corner, queen just in the diagonal front and is followed by somehow "normal" arrangement.
in each side in a cross-mirror way one horse's and one bishop's place are reversed,
so as to have one bishop in each color.
the soldier that is left off-line is placed off-line in a cross/mirror way as well.

(ok, it is world's first diagonal chess published in this blog as we found out on the web. notice that we hadn't played chess for like 18 years, i guess
it's claimed (published) inventor -David Howe- back in 1997 was not an avid chess player as well, haha.
in our diagonal chess invention rules (5min-this-or-the-other-way-procedure) and piece placement-movement differ form Dave's. Sorry Dave, we think we are better haha (our compliments).
